How I Balance It All
My Daily Grind: A Balancing Act
My days are tightly packed, starting with a cold plunge in the Ice Barrel at 8 AM, followed by breakfast and a 1.5 to 2-hour session at the gym. Post-training, I dive into work for Bolder Athlete, interspersing my tasks with another training session in my garage. Evenings are dedicated to family, ending with compression therapy (Normatec Boots for the win) and a good night's sleep. Thursdays are my recovery days with a focus on swimming and lots of work! Weekends? They're for quick work sprints (90 minutes or less on Saturday and Sunday) to ensure everything's on track.
Simplicity in Nutrition, Focus in Recovery
Balancing nutrition with such a hectic schedule is all about simplicity and hitting my macros. My diet is straightforward - Greek yogurt, chicken, ground beef, eggs, white rice, and fruits. For recovery, I swear by my routine of cold plunging in the morning, ensuring 8 hours of sleep, hydrating properly (with electrolytes like LMNT) and consuming around 3000 calories daily.
Challenges and My Mantra
Time is a precious commodity, often in short supply in my day. Balancing training, work, and family means making smart choices about how I spend each hour. To counter this constant battle against the clock, I've embraced a strategy of absolute presence. Whether it's engaging in deep work sessions for Bolder Athlete, pushing through a grueling training set, or spending quality time with my family, I'm all in. This approach helps me ensure that I'm not just physically present but also mentally and emotionally connected, especially during those invaluable moments with my loved ones.
Staying Grounded and Motivated
Discipline and habits are my north star. Regular cold plunges serve as a physical and mental reset, a daily ritual that sharpens my focus and invigorates my spirit. Adequate sleep is non-negotiable; it's the cornerstone of my recovery process, ensuring I'm recharged for the challenges of the next day. Nutrition isn't just about fueling my body for performance; it's about nurturing it. My diet is tailored to support my intense training regimen while providing the energy needed for cognitive tasks. This structured lifestyle keeps me grounded and consistently motivated.
Hobbies? What Hobbies?
To be honest, CrossFit and Bolder Athlete are my world. My passion for these consumes most of my waking hours, leaving little room for traditional hobbies. But that's okay! I find immense joy and fulfillment in the challenge and community these pursuits offer. Every workout, every strategy session for Bolder Athlete, feels like a hobby because it's what I love doing. Sure, there's no time for stamp collecting or bird watching, but when your career aligns with your passion, every day is engaging and fulfilling. ๐

Become a Bolder Athlete โ a fitness platform specifically tailored for Masters Athletes aged 35 and older. It deviates from the common practice of merely scaling down routines designed for younger athletes, instead creating programs that address the distinct needs of mature athletes. This approach recognizes that older athletes may face different challenges such as reduced recovery rates, the need to manage old injuries, and a requirement for workouts that accommodate decreased flexibility or other age-related physical changes.
