Founding: Hyrox was founded in 2017 by Christian Toetzke and Moritz Fürste in Germany. Christian Toetzke, a renowned event organizer, and Moritz Fürste, a former professional field hockey player and Olympic champion, created Hyrox to bridge the gap between traditional endurance sports and CrossFit.
Growth: Since its inception, Hyrox has rapidly gained popularity, expanding beyond Germany to numerous countries in Europe, North America, and other parts of the world. The event's unique format and inclusive nature have contributed to its widespread appeal.
3. Current State of Hyrox
Global Reach: Hyrox events are held in major cities across the globe, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, and more. The sport has seen significant growth in participation numbers and media coverage.
Event Structure: Each Hyrox event consists of an 8-kilometer run, broken into 1-kilometer segments, with functional fitness exercises in between each running segment. The exercises include:
